Regular cancer screening is one of the most effective ways to detect cancer early — and in some cases, prevent it altogether. Yet, a lack of health education and awareness continues to limit screening uptake in at-risk communities.
In response to this growing need, the UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity and the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, in partnership with Antelope Valley Partners for Health and Mixteco Indígena Community Organizing Project, have developed a toolkit aimed at increasing cancer screening tests and raising awareness for relevant cancers throughout Southern California. This free toolkit aims to increase cancer screening rates and raise awareness in Southern California communities by using multi-media communication channels and culturally relevant messaging.
