Sonia Pinal has worked for the American Cancer Society in California since 2004.   She works as a Health Systems Manager, State & Primary Care Systems working closely with Federally Qualified Health Centers in Los Angeles County and most recently also working with Health Plans and Quality Improvement Organizations.  Her expertise includes providing guidance to health system partners around implementing evidence based interventions for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening and HPV vaccination.  For the past six years her work has focused on increasing access to high quality prevention and screening and decreasing cancer-related disparities.  Prior to that she managed the Patient Service Scheduling Center in Los Angeles and led the hiring, training and supervision of the first two American Cancer Society Patient Navigators in Los Angeles.

Sonia graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and received a Master’s in Public Health from Capella University.
