The JCCC Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team has received a grant award to implement cancer screening communication campaigns that will raise awareness and promote cancer screening among Latinx communities in the Antelope Valley and indigenous Mexican immigrant populations (IMI) of Ventura County. Each of these communities has lower cancer screening rates for cervical, colorectal, and breast cancers compared to non-Hispanic Whites. The COE team will create culturally and linguistically appropriate materials for campaigns on each cancer type, in partnership with the Antelope Valley Partners for Health (AVPH) and the Mixteco Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP). Each campaign will incorporate radio PSAs, healthcare provider interviews, social media posts, and Community Health Workers to increase cancer screening awareness and referrals among the Latinx and IMI populations.
