NCI Cancer Center Suppport Grant Supplement Award!

Award Title: Using Multi-Channel Communication Campaigns to Promote Cancer Screening Among High-Need Latinx Communities.

The JCCC Community Outreach and Engagement (COE) team has received a grant award to implement cancer screening communication campaigns that will raise awareness and promote cancer screening among Latinx communities in the Antelope Valley and indigenous Mexican immigrant populations (IMI) of Ventura County. Each of these communities has lower cancer screening rates for cervical, colorectal, and breast cancers compared to non-Hispanic Whites. The COE team will create culturally and linguistically appropriate materials for campaigns on each caner type, in partnership with the Antelope Valley Partners for Health (AVPH) and the Mixteco Indígena Community Organizing Project (MICOP). Each campaign will incorporate radio PSAs, healthcare provider interviews, social media posts, and Community Health Workers to increase cancer screening awareness and referrals among the Latinx and IMI populations.
